The Hazards of working in the glass bangles industry are : (i) The workers work around glass furnaces with high temperatures. They work in dingy cells without air and light. This is quite unhealthy for them. (ii) The polishing of the glass of bangles produces dust. This dust slowly makes the workers lose their eyesight. They go blind. (iii) The workers weld the pieces of coloured glass. They do this work in their dark hutments, in the dim light of flickering oil lamps. This also affects their eyesight badly. (iv) Most of them lose their eyesight even before they become adults.
