What is denitrification? What are suitable conditions for it?
Answer:
Denitrification: A group of bacteria break up nitrates and ammonium compounds into molecular nitrogen (N2) which is released into the atmosphere. This process is called denitrification and the bacteria are called denitrifying bacteria, such as Pseudomonas, Thiobacillus etc.
The suitable conditions for denitrification is anaerobic environment.
